A Colon Hydrotherapy session is gentle way to cleanse the colon. A small amount of filtered, temperature controlled water flows gently into the colon, softening the waste and stimulating the colon’s natural muscle contractions or peristaltic action. The softened waste is naturally released. This process is repeated several times until the entire colon is cleansed. This is a safe, effective method of removing waste from the colon or large intestine.
What Can I Expect?
On your first visit to the office, you will complete a health intake form which will give information about your current state of health. This allows the therapist to determine if colon therapy is right for you. Some health conditions are contraindicated. A brief consultation is provided before the session begins and following the session. The sessions are approximately 30-40 minutes.
A Colon Hydrotherapy session is a comfortable experience for most people. It produces no odor. A small amount of water flows gently into the colon softening the waste and stimulating the colon’s natural peristaltic action. The softened waste is naturally released. This process is repeated several times until the entire colon is cleansed.
Your dignity and privacy are protected at all times. Most clothing can be kept on and you will be draped with a real cotton sheet and completely covered during the entire session.
Why colon hydrotherapy?
Our bodies shed dead cells, dead tissue and the by-products of digestion every single day. More people are experiencing food sensitivities, are lactose and gluten intolerant. When we are slow to eliminate, these waste accumulate. We absorb from the environment toxic by-products of oils, plastics, outgassing of carpets and furniture, as well as chemicals used to preserve or prepare foods that are eaten every day.
The colon has been referred to as the sewer system of the body. It is certainly one of them. It is the place where we store the waste material most of us would rather not think about. We don’t, until our health becomes poor, we feel constipated or have diarrhea. The entire body benefits from the release of this accumulated congestion and poisons in the bowel.
What are some signs of sluggish elimination? Coated tongue, foul breath, poor complexion, body odor, dark circles under the eyes, cold hands and feet, brittle nails and hair, dull lifeless hair, sagging posture, tensions, fatigue, allergies, indigestion, chronic headaches, irritability nervousness, nausea, depression, bloating and some backaches.

How Many Sessions are Recommended?
The number of colon hydrotherapy sessions required will depend on the individual. Each person’s goal will differ. Just as some people exercise on a daily or weekly basis to tone and tighten the outer body, some people follow an ongoing cleansing, toning, and balancing regime for their inner bodies. Colon Hydrotherapy could be used as part of any regular maintenance program.
If you have been eating a Standard American Diet for most of your life, we suggest receiving 2-4 colonic sessions the first month as you increase your water intake and increase the fiber foods in your diet. Many clients choose to begin an herbal bowel cleanse or liver cleanse if not contraindicated. Talk with your colon hydrotherapist about this during your consultation. Once you’ve completed the initial cleansing phase, consider receiving 1-3 sessions each season. Remember your body is making new cells and tissue and is rejuvenating itself. As you become more conscious of your health and fitness you eagerly break old habits.
How Should I Prepare for My Session?
Please increase your intake of water to at least 8 (8 oz) glasses per day and begin increasing fresh fruits and vegetables prior to your appointment. Since you are beginning a cleansing program we encourage you to avoid fried foods, white sugar, white flour & refined foods at least 24 hours before your appointment. On the day of your appointment do not eat two hours prior to a session, however you may have liquid foods, such as smoothies, protein drinks, herbal teas and of course water. If you have any health conditions, please inform us.
What Equipment Do You Use?
Filtered, temperature controlled and pressure regulated water is delivered through an FDA registered device. We use the HydroSan Plus, Model C, from Specialty Health. which is state of the art technology. All tubes and components are sterile and one-use only. There is no chance of contamination. Each specially designed treatment room has a private bathroom which is sanitized after each use.
After a Session
Many clients report feeling light and refreshed after a session. If you have been eating a standard American diet you may feel tired after your session. You will be encouraged to eat a light meal for 24 hours following your session, such as fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, & soups. Avoid fried foods, cheese, dairy, breads, white flour, white sugar, meats and alcoholic beverages. Resting and drinking plenty of fluids will return your energy within a 24 hour period.
If you have not been having regular bowel movements, your digestive tract will need time to build energy to make a movement happen. Clients have had improvement after several appointments and by following the recommendations regarding improving their nutrition and increasing water intake. In the beginning you may experience movements that are daily, yet small. Please let your therapist know how your movements have been.
